This 2013-15 project identified target areas for the implementation of Mobility Management (MM) /Human Services Transportation (HST) in metro Atlanta. As an Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) project, it became the “implementation arm” of the Regional HST Plan. Key target areas included a 1) regional “One-Click” system (branded as “Simply Get There”), 2) regional voucher/volunteer system, 3) regional travel training system, 4) Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) complementary paratransit improvements, 5) “Vets Helping Vets” volunteer system, 6) regional mobility manager network, and 7) accessible taxi tactics. As the graphic below illustrates, the approach is to make steady improvements over the years on 1) each mode and 2) between modes and tactics. Regional stakeholders often determine what is most needed or feasible at any given time; working in this step-by-step fashion keeps the overall project moving forward (even if there is an obstacle to achieving some targets). We can simply move onto another need and keep the work moving forward. As the Project Manager, I managed the project direction, stakeholder input, and consultant deliverables. This collaborative project included the stellar work of Nelson Nygaard. The project is currently managed by other ARC staff, and the project results are being integrated into the 2015-2016 Regional Human Services Transportation (HST) Plan update. * All images property of ARC.
