This Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) project, completed in 2015, was funded by the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Veterans Transportation and Community Living Initiative (VTCLI) grant. FTA funded a number of "One-Click" projects across the nation in 2011-12, and "Simply Get There" is the local Atlanta region One-Click project. It is currently available to the public online at www.SimplyGetThere.org. The primary objective was to create one centralized online resource for all transportation options/modes in metro Atlanta. While many multi-modal trip planners are available, there are few focused on the transportation options of individuals with disabilities, individuals with chronic medical conditions, individuals with lower income, older adults and veterans. In this sense, the project applies Universal Design principles to a transportation trip planning website. If those with the greatest needs are considered primarily, the entire population will benefit from enhanced information. As the Project Manager, I managed the project direction, stakeholder input, and consultant deliverables. Many ARC staff members contributed to this highly collaborative project. The project is currently managed by other ARC staff, and plans are ongoing for upgrades and improvements.
As the project was in development, I presented updates at "GTFS in the World" in Washington DC in 2014 on Paratransit: Comparisons and Connections. In 2014, I presented on GTFS Inputs & Trip Planning Outputs at the American Planning Association (APA) annual conference in Atlanta. * All products property of ARC and FTA.
